If many report sections in the same report require the same filter, you might find it easier to use a Global Value instead.

Here we have set the Global Value for the "Start of the Reporting Period" as 01/01/2014. If we apply this Global Value for all our Report sections, then next year I can change the Global Value for the start of the next reporting period and the change will be reflected everywhere in the Report that the Global Value is referenced.
