What are the answers to some frequently asked questions regarding ETO's migration to AWS?
Welcome! Here you will find the answer to common questions related to the migration of ETO to Amazon Web Services.
What is Amazon Web Services or AWS?
AWS stands for Amazon Web Services. AWS is a best in class, secure cloud services software platform trusted by the world’s biggest companies. It is the new hosting environment for ETO.
Where is ETO hosted today?
ETO is currently hosted by Sunguard in various data centers.
We are migrating ETO to Amazon Web Services to provide our clients with the best in class, most secure cloud services platform available. It is a robust system that is trusted by the world's biggest companies. AWS will deliver robust data center monitoring, increased system performance, and seamless scalability. This migration will allow us to offload maintenance and upkeep to a third party, thereby allowing our teams to spend more time developing software for you, our clients.
What's changing? What are the benefits?
Good news: visually, nothing is changing. You will navigate your ETO systems as you always have and the structure of your sites, programs, and data will not change. The majority of clients will login using the same URL and login. URL and other changes for specific use cases will be contacted directly.
Even better news is what is changing: With the migration of ETO to AWS you’ll immediately see improved reliability, speed, reaction and load times, and scalability. Your data will receive increased security through increased data center monitoring and maintenance.
What specific improvements can we expect?
You will begin to reap the benefits of the AWS migration from day one. We have broken down the benefits into initial improvements and continuous improvements to most accurately depict the benefits:
- Reliability: There will be no more than 30% variability in performance time.
- Speed: Initial system speeds will improve up to 35%.
- Real time reactions: Improvements in page load times, depending on report structures, databases, and over environmental factors.
- Scalability: Performance increases by adding additional instances, not adding new hardware.
- Reliability: Continued and increased monitoring and performance testing.
- Speed: Possibility for even more speed improvements in the future.
- Real time reactions: Additional caching over time.
- Scalability: Architectural upgrades like the Business Objects upgrade
When is this happening?
