There are rare instances where you may need to run an older version of Internet Explorer, such as when a browser error occurs as a result of a Microsoft update or defect. In order to do revert to a previous version of IE:

  1. Click the "Settings" button in Internet Explorer (The one in the top right corner that looks like a gear).
  2.  Click F12 Developer tools
  3.  Go to the tab that says "Emulation"
  4. Make sure the option for "Persist Emulation settings" is activated. This option looks like a gear with three lines to the bottom right of it
  5.  Locate the drop-down menu for the option "User agent string"
  6. Select the version of Internet Explorer you would like to imitate
  7. Exit out of the developer tools.

Once this is done, your Internet Explorer will run as if it is the previous version.

To return to the default browser version:

  1. Click the "Settings" button in Internet Explorer (The one in the top right corner that looks like a gear).
  2.  Click F12 Developer tools
  3.  Go to the tab that says "Emulation"
  4.  Deselect the option for "Persist Emulation Settings"
  5.  Exit Developer Tools menu.
